Dr. Deborah GoberProfessor and Department Chair, Teacher Education
Specialty Area: Mathematics Education Brief Bio: Dr. Deborah Gober served as a high school math teacher at Freedom High School in Morganton, NC for eleven years. Following completion of a doctoral program at the University of Georgia in 1998, she came to Columbus State University (CSU) to teach in the College of Education (COE). She is presently a Professor of Mathematics Education and serves as chair of the Department of Teacher Education. Gober also coordinates the accreditation work for the college and has served on accreditation teams across the state. She has co-authored several articles dealing with equity in mathematics education and has presented at local, state, and national conferences. In 2005, Gober received the CSU Faculty Service Award and the COE Thomas E. Harrison Leadership Award. She was also nominated for the CSU Educator of the Year Award (2000) and the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Gladys M. Thompson Distinguished Service Award (2005). Gober's research interests include teacher education and the process of teacher change, equity in mathematics education, and the integration of technology to enhance mathematics teaching and learning.
