Dr. Mary Beth Hendricks is a professor in the Teacher Education Department who received her doctoral degree in Special Education - Administration and Supervision from Virginia Tech. She currently teaches courses in the special education teacher preparation program and also works as an advisor to undergraduate early childhood and special education majors in the SAFE (Student Advising and Field Experiences) Office. Prior to teaching at the college level, Dr. Hendricks spent a number of years as a public school teacher working with children who had mild and moderate learning, intellectual, and behavioral disabilities. She continues her interests in this area by focusing on the retention of special educators in the field and also the successful inclusion of students with disabilities in the classroom. These research interests have afforded Dr. Hendricks the opportunity to collaborate with her fellow colleagues across campus on various grants and conference presentations. Most importantly to her is the support and encouragement that Dr. Hendricks receives on a daily basis from her husband (a biology professor) and her two children.
