Brief Bio:   Dr. Elizabeth (Betty) Hipps received her Doctor of Education from Auburn University in Educational Leadership in 1990. Her prior degrees include Specialist in Education and Master of Music Education from the University of Georgia (1975, 1971) and the Bachelor of Music from Wesleyan College (1968).


Dr Hipps came to the Early Childhood Education program at Columbus State University in 2007. She has also been an elementary principal and assistant principal in the Muscogee County School District (1990 - 2005) and a music teacher in the Muscogee and Clarke County (GA) School Districts (1968 - 1989).


Dr. Hipps has been married since 1971to Michael L. Hipps. They have 2 grown sons, Davis and Bennett Hipps, and 3 grandchildren. Her interests include spending time with her grandchildren, reading mystery novels, gardening, and singing and listening to music.
