Brief Bio: Sallie Averitt Miller, Ed.D. is the Assistant Dean, Professor of Reading Education, Coordinator of the Graduate Reading Endorsement Program, Assessment Coordinator, Chair of the Graduate Council, and an elected member of the Graduate Directors Assembly at Columbus State University College of Education. She also serves as a Board Member of the Georgia Reading Consortium and President of the Georgia Reading Association. Dr. Miller has worked in Reading Education for over 15 years, mostly as a university professor, researcher, reading clinic director, and classroom supervisor for in-service and pre-service teachers. She holds a Doctor of Education degree from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama; Reading Certification in Georgia P-12, Level 7; Adult Education, Level 7. Miller's areas of expertise include working with educators using evidenced-based reading research, supervising in-service and pre-service teachers in diagnostic and prescriptive reading instruction, and writing curriculum. She has an extensive clinical background teaching children, adolescents, and adults to read across grade levels and subject areas.
