Melissa S. Sullivan is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education and the Department of Teacher Education, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Education. Dr. Sullivan came to Columbus State University in 2008. Prior to that, she worked at Auburn University at Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama.

In 2004, Melissa Sullivan received her doctorate from Auburn University. During her doctoral studies, she taught Reading, Language Arts, Children's Literature, and Early Childhood Curriculum courses. Before entering the doctoral program at Auburn University, Melissa Sullivan also worked as a classroom teacher in Alabama's public schools.

Dr. Sullivan's teaching interests focus on integrated approaches to literacy education. Teaching courses for pre- and in-service teachers from early childhood, her goal is to engage teachers in reflective evaluation of methods and materials.
