Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Leadership CSU's program leading to a Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Leadership is oriented toward promoting strong skills in assessment, research, pedagogy and content areas, leading to a high level of expertise. Students in the program also develop an in-depth understanding of educational psychology and how learning occurs. -------------------- Congratulations 2009 COEHP Award Recipients!

Dr. Hipps Presents at the Oxford Round Table Spring 2009 -Dr. Betty Hipps presented a paper at the Oxford Round Table on "Lessons I Learned While a Principal Which Prepared Me to Teach Early Childhood Literacy".
The Oxford Round Table, Lincoln College, Oxford University, is a gathering of scholars from around the world to share research and ideas on a topic of mutual interest. Fifty-five scholars participated in the Round Table on Early Childhood Literacy.
CSU Graduate Directors Assembly Dr. Tom Hackett was recently elected Chair of the Assembly. Appointed COEHP committee members are Drs. Lenoir Gillam, Deidre Greer, and Sallie Miller.
Muscogee County School District Teachers of the Year Nominees: Fifty-one percent (51%) are Columbus State University graduates! Dr. Dutchie Riggsby (friend and colleague) will retire at the end of June. Dr. Riggsby will return to the COEHP in the fall as a part-time faculty member to teach in the School Library Media Program.
Online Master's in Leadership The Department of Counseling, Foundations, and Leadership announces the rollout of its first-ever online degree program, the Master of Education in Educational Leadership Online. This 100% online degree M.Ed. program offers a degree in 15 months at a cost of $350 per semester hour. Online MAT in Math and Science The new MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) program affiliated with the Georgia on my Line program has begun. This program provides certification for college graduates in math or science. This, along with the one-year-old M.Ed. GOML program in Accomplished Teaching, is reaching students all over Georgia. Students are telling us that these totally on-line degree programs are filling a great need for students who are not able to travel to a university to obtain their degrees. Events
Teacher candidates celebrated their Induction into the Teacher Education Program with their families and COEHP members Friday, October 2nd. Harris County Carver Middle School Principal, Stacey Carlisle and HCCM Drama Teacher, Merrell Cheney were guest speakers. The next Induction Ceremony will be in February 2010.
